More cowbells...

I watched this many years ago... I think it's from VH-1. Fucken funny. The clip stars the one and only Christopher Walken and interestinly, a pre-fame Will Farrell...

Woooo hooooo!!!

B-Quartet's EP The Smitten Bard master copy just came back from Syndey! Heard it and thought the mastering engineer Steve Smart did an excellent job in bringing out the vocal harmonies and guitar parts. However, he did such a good job he brought out the glitches out in the forefront. Hahahha... Ah well, shit happens.

Finally, the final step in the process will take place: CD pressing. I reckon we'll be sending the master copy to the CD plant on Monday which is like 4 working days behnd our planned schedule. So shit really happens.

It's been a crazy time doing this... Finally, Aging Youth Records AYR CD001. To quote Jason 'Do I get another free beer?' Siau (in the context if he ever catches Radiohead live), I will probably laugh, cry and jerk off once the CD comes back from the press. Not in any particular order.

Then, the crazier process of ensuring sales starts... Sigh. God knows how many we can sell... Fuck! This is not my own band's album. But the EP sounds great. Everybody should get a copy. Hehehe, blatant whoring here...

More than meets the eye...

The Transformers, the shape-changing robot toys that were a craze in the 1980s, are to be made into a live-action film by studio Dreamworks. The Steven Spielberg-founded studio plans a summer of 2006 release. "Steven and everyone at DreamWorks are very excited about the prospect of expanding the world of Transformers into the live-action feature film arena. The possibilities for a thrilling action adventure are virtually endless, and a film holds the definite promise of expanding an already worldwide fan base to new audiences," Adam Goodman, DreamWorks head of production, said in a statement Friday.

Hasbro will act as consultants to the film. DreamWorks will distribute the movie in the United States and Paramount Pictures will market it internationally.

Robot Factions
The Transformers were, alongside the Cabbage Patch Dolls and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, one of the toy crazes of the 1980s. The two robot factions - one good evil - could disguise themselves as everything from trucks to fighter jets.

The toys sparked a successful cartoon series in the US.

Hasbro's Involvement
On June 11, 2003 Hasbro, Inc. announced that it entered into an agreement with the highly successful producers Tom DeSanto (X-Men and X2: X-Men United) and Don Murphy (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) for a full length, live action movie based on Hasbro's enormously popular TRANSFORMERS brand.

"TRANSFORMERS enjoys an amazing fan base worldwide, and we believe that we can create an incredibly fast-paced, exciting movie that will be appealing to anyone who loves action films," said Don Murphy.

"TRANSFORMERS is one of those rare properties that has been embraced by a generation around the world. Like X-Men, TRANSFORMERS offers an amazing mythology with all the elements to create a successful ongoing franchise, iconic characters, global themes, and a world that has never been seen before on screen," said Tom DeSanto.

"The property has been successful in every arena it has played in throughout the world - toys, comic books, television - and we now believe it's time to take TRANSFORMERS to the next level, and into a live action event movie," continued DeSanto.

"We're thrilled to have entered into an agreement with the very talented and accomplished Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto," said Brian Goldner, President of Hasbro's U.S. toys group. "TRANSFORMERS is a natural for the big screen, and both Tom and Don have the track record and skill to bring to life a TRANSFORMERS movie that will be action-packed and flawlessly executed."

Hasbro's focus on the TRANSFORMERS brand is consistent with the Company's strategy of driving and extending its core brands through innovative toys and games as well as other forms of entertainment. TRANSFORMERS is one of the most popular boys toy brands, with sales up 64% in 2002 vs. 2001. First introduced in the U.S. market in 1984 as a toy line, the success of TRANSFORMERS continues to grow in a wide-range of entertainment categories. The hit television show TRANSFORMERS ARMADA airs on Cartoon Network seven times a week, with more than 12 million viewers. The show also airs in Europe and Australia. TRANSFORMERS ARMADA comic books, published by Dreamwave are also highly successful, with some of the most popular titles in the industry. The comic books are also translated and distributed in many markets around the world. There will be new TRANSFORMERS television programming and comic books launching in 2004.

About The Hasbro Properties Group
"The Hasbro Properties Group (HPG) continues to deliver on its mission of extending Hasbro's rich portfolio of brands beyond toys and games and into multiple forms of entertainment," said Jane Ritson-Parsons, HPG President. "Our alignment with Tom DeSanto and Don Murphy demonstrates the power of our TRANSFORMERS brand and our determination to leverage our properties aggressively and creatively."

The Hasbro Properties Group develops and extends Hasbro's core brands, such as G.I. JOE, TRANSFORMERS, MY LITTLE PONY, MONOPOLY and CANDY LAND, into a wide variety of entertainment and consumer categories. Hasbro Consumer Products Worldwide is the licensing and promotions arm of the Hasbro Properties Group

The Death Of Cinema

Actually, that's where Nick, music director of the "post-cock" band, The Death Of Cinema is wrong.

Cinema is not dead... not when there's still Jessica Alba...

Adult Video Algorithm

I soooo need an audio interface. Anyway, since I've chalked up the item 'Promote solo album' on my list of 'Things to do when I'm retired', here's a little preview of what's to come...

If They Can Do It, So Can I (featuring Daniel Lim of Documentary In Amber)

As you can tell, it's still a work in progress... and well, since I've 40 years to tweak it...

I heart Doonesbury...

They take the piss outta everything...

Reviving an old theory...

I dig chicks. Chicks dig Coldplay. So, I dig Coldplay. Check out Richard "I wonder what the fuck happened to him?" Ashcroft in a duet with the boys from Coldplay, doing a tune from his glory days: The Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony' at the Hyde Park concert for Live8. How so, indeed!

Chekkit...

Check out the rest of the Live8 shit here.

Errr... wow.

Just visited this local Internet radio, Unpopular Culture which is run by Weiyuan's friend, Charanpal. He's pretty devoted to this. Nice. :)

Lookit! The Love Experiment's 'High School Girls' actually got played. Very nice of Charanpal to do so!

I've getting these a lot recently...

Epiphanies, that is.

There I was, having a smoke and taking a dump in the toilet, pondering about "Life, The Universe and Everything Else". It just suddenly struck me.

I've never played an Ibanez electric guitar in my life. Ever.

Acoustic, yeshhh... Not an electric. Methinks I oughta try it one of these days.

Hmmmm...

I was supposed to watch 'Fantastic Four' with Joe Jee soon but he seemed hesitant to watch as he heard "the ending was not good". And I held out on free preview tickets to watch because of him. Well, screw him!

So I caught it myself on Saturday. It was better than I expected but the film stock used seemed damn grainy and the special effects were pretty half-arsed. And I actually enjoyed myself pretty much at the show. And an epiphany struck me...

I need to get me one of these...

Sometimes, I wake up in the middle of the night, kicking myself for not taking up basic Spanish when my friend asked me to try out for this internship in Mexico... I guess, it's never too late to learn and find a way down there...

Mac-hee-co rawks, José...

Fantastic Four Interview

Was reading this interview with the entire cast from Fantastic Four. It's pretty funny. Check it out here...

Of course, no Fantastic Four entry is ever complete without an obligatory pic-cher of Jessica Alba and that body of hers...

Alien Planet

I love monster movies... When Discovery Channel came out with 'Walking With Dinosaurs', it pretty much blew me away. What's more fun than seeing a bunch of pre-historic giant lizards chasing each other around? Okay, probably a bunch of hot, naked chicks chasing each other around. Anyway, I love the sequel to that series, 'Walking With Beasts' which explored the evolution of mammals. That rocks.

Now, Discovery Channel has just come out with Alien Planet which is about alien lifeform on, well, alien planets.

Of course, Melvin will bitch about how it's all based on guess-work like the previous 'Walking...' series and there's no real scientific proof behind it. I mean, what's your fucken point? Obviously, someone was severely deprived of watching Ultraman when he was growing up...

The Lounge Lizard is one apologetic mofo...

Lookkit, I've been busy over my tits with work and Aging Youth Records stuff. Yeah, we just started an indie record label which I reckon has been Weiyuan's dream since he sprouted hair at areas where the sun doesn't shine. We are really blessed that B-Quartet has decided to go with us and I'm popping by the post office later to mail the recording to Sydney's Studios 301 to master the EP. Pretty much of an exciting time for us all at Aging Youth Productions/ Records. The EP sounds great. It has a bit of progressive rock (which is not really my thing) and some groovy, funky shit (definitely, my THANG!). All in all, I think Billy and Grace should check them out. Their cover of Radiohead's 'Idioteque' rocks me bollocks...

I reckon I've been too knee-deep in the whole AYP crap that I really don't have much time to hang out with me friends very much anymore. I've been either organising these events or checking others out for new acts. I just don't have time to meet up with old friends. I reckon, it's all me fault. Probably, after this year's Baybeats, I should get down to calling all me friends out for a drink or something...

Is anyone on?

Heya, lookee!!!

We is have new frens with blogs... I is, without a doubt, jealous that they have their nicely done-up and Photo-shopped studio headshots. I've placed Roy's and Weng's blogs under links. Which prolly is a good way for me to keep up with their usual yuppie lifestyles...

Damn, I need to get a studio headshot... All I have is a crappy picture of me in a robot suit.

I thought I'll never say this but Goddamn, I look good in purple spandex...

I is no feelings...

I came to realise that I don't really write much about myself on my blog. The fact, being I don't really feel emotionally engaged to anything anymore nowadays... I guess, it's like what they always say in those pretentious indie student flicks: "Urban folks dun really feel anymore. No one really cares about each other in this big urban jungle." I want to write something about myself on my blog but feel distanced from the topic even before I typed the 1st word. I guess being uncaring and unfeeling is a modern day self-defense mechanism...

Eh.... WAITAMINNIT!!!

PS: Hmmmm, this whole irony thing is wearing thin... Hmmmmmm...

Get Off That Thang!

“Get off that thang and dance till you feel better!!!” so screams the Godfather of Soul, James Brown back in the 60’s. That is amongst many other things like “Take me to the bridge!” and “Hot pants!” as well. We never really got the “hot pants” bit though…

Get Off That Thang!, a mini-music fest which showcases music containing elements of funk, jazz, Latin percussiveness and that oh-so-irresistible groove. Be swayed by our performers who will dish out heartfelt soul and off-kilter rhythms. Be convinced like the young man in a galaxy far, far away who “felt the Funk”.

Soul’D Out, Dancing Nancies, Syawla Evol, Fatskunks, Ugly In The Morning, Throb and B-Quartet will entertain you, getting you to “get off that thang” and dance the whole night through. Just be sure when you are busting your moves, they are so good that no one comes up to you and say that their grandmas dance better.

Venue: Esplanade Outdoor Theatre

WOAH!!!!

As reported on NME Online:

PINK FLOYD’s classic line-up took to the stage for the first time in over twenty years tonight at LIVE 8 in LONDON (July 2).

The band reformed especially for the show and dedicated their performance to Syd Barrett, the founder member who left the band in the late 60s.

"It's great to be playing again with these three guys," said bassist Roger Waters as the band launched into 'Wish You Were Here'. "This is for the people who can't be here - especially Syd."

The band played four tracks including 'Money' and 'Comfortably Numb'. The line-up, Dave Gilmour, Roger Waters, Rick Wright and Nick Mason, had not played together since the mid-eighties, shortly after the release of 1983’s ’The Final Cut’.

Speaking before the gig Mason said the band had not even sat down to work out what songs to play, saying: “It's sort of assumed that we'll all remember how they go."

Of the reunion, the drummer told The Telegraph that Live 8 organiser Bob Geldof was the main force in getting the musicians back together.

”I think Bob wanted an addition to what he did last time,” he said. “He wanted a novelty act basically. It was a toss up between us and the Spice Girls. Not sure if we lost or won."

He added: “At this point it's nice to be remembered not just for a bunch of jolly tunes, but for something that might make a real difference to the world."

Geldof appeared in Pink Floyd’s film ’The Wall’ in 1982, directed by Alan Parker. It was at this time that he struck up a friendship with bassist Waters.

Mason said: “Roger and Bob have enormous respect for each other, The two of them together are a bit like Hitler and Stalin with a better sense of humour, and in Bob's case, worse hair."

The reunion of Pink Floyd is the penultimate act of the London Live 8 concert which will conclude with Sir Paul McCartney leading an all-star band.

In case, for those of you who are not in the know, Sir Paul McCartney is the incarnation of the Devil himself on this plane, along local celebrities like Ho Yeow Sun and her hubby...
